Richmond business and nonprofit attorney Eric Perkins is working with contributing authors Tom Hood and John Packett and publisher Wayne Dementi of Dementi Milestone Publishing to write a book celebrating the modern history of tennis in Richmond. Tentatively titled “Richmond–One of America’s Best Tennis Towns,” the book is scheduled for a Spring 2012 release. The book is a Richmond Tennis Association project and net proceeds will support the promotion and development of youth tennis in underserved areas throughout the Richmond metropolitan area.
Inspired by Richmond’s top 3 finish in the 2010 Best Tennis Town contest sponsored by the USTA, the book will not only recount the many great people, events, organizations, and facilities that have made Richmond a great tennis town for many years, but the stories and pictures–some of which have never before been published–will also promote community pride and inspire kids to play tennis and strive to achieve all the many wonderful things that tennis can provide both on and off the court.
