One Million Cups Zoom Session: Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Rapid Response on Wednesday, March 25 at 9:00 am
The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has now affected all of us in numerous ways, from the interruptions to our daily routines, to fears of contagion; from our concern for the medical professionals on the front lines, to escalating our sanitation practices and social distancing.
The CDC is responding to this pandemic of respiratory disease spreading from person-to-person caused by a novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This situation poses a serious public health risk. The federal government is working closely with state, local, tribal, and territorial partners, as well as public health partners, to respond to this situation. COVID-19 can cause mild to severe illness; most severe illness occurs in older adults.
Indie Labs, Executive Director, Bill Slavin has commented that, “we are uniquely positioned to shift activities to pandemic response and are working with local authorities, community members, and international scientists, engineers, and medical personnel to expand COVID-19 testing apparatus in the state. We currently have a team of 15 people locally building the effort, in addition to the expanded team from across the world.” Their work is focused on improvements to, and the availability of:
• COVID-19 Testing (qPCR systems and rapid CRISPR-based detection);
• Oxygen (PSA gas generating systems);
• Sterilization & Surgical Masks;
• Ventilators; and
• Related Logistics.
Please join the Zoom webinar on Wednesday March 25 at 9:00 am as Bill Slavin will walk us through their efforts and how people can assist.
