Reducing the Risk and Impact of Fraud for Small Businesses and Nonprofit Organizations
This is by no means intended to serve as an exhaustive checklist that will make your organization bulletproof against fraud. However, considering these issues will put a business owner, manager, or HR director in a better position to reduce the risk of fraud within an organization. B y engaging in this critically important exercise, small business and nonprofit leaders will not only better protect the organizations for which they serve, but also better protect themselves from liability risk.
Each item you are able to “check” for your organization represents one step in reducing risk. While it is probably not possible for most small businesses or nonprofit organizations to check off every item on the list, an organization committed to preventing fraud and promoting professional, ethical behavior typically will have relatively few boxes left blank by the end of the checklist.
